A pickup truck like the 2024 Honda Ridgeline is in a spot unlike most others: being the only one of its class within its manufacturer’s lineup. The Ridgeline isn’t afraid of this fact, and it serves as the ideal midsize truck; unlike full-size and heavy-duty trucks, Honda has a piece of the midsize truck market thanks to the Ridgeline. The 2024 model is a fantastic pickup truck that has pleased both fans and critics alike, and it’ll be the perfect new vehicle to put in your driveway.

Honda has found interesting ways to differentiate the Ridgeline from its competition, which comes down to beating its competitors in areas like value and versatility – the latter of which can be seen with features like extra cargo bays inside the cabin and under the truck bed. The 2024 Ridgeline is available in four trims and sports a starting price of $39,750 – a great price considering the Ridgeline has tremendous base-line performance with off-roading amenities built into every facet of the experience, from ground clearance to its standard AWD system and beyond.[a]

Performance

Running under the hood of the 2024 Honda Ridgeline is a 3.5L V6 engine linked alongside a 9-speed automatic transmission. Something beneficial to buyers of the less costly Ridgeline trims, like the base Sport, is the 3.5L V6 engine staying put, regardless of which trim you’ve chosen for your 2024 Ridgeline. A 3.5L V6 engine is a great concession for a midsize truck like the Ridgeline, as performance is noteworthy, and the engine’s displacement means it’s more fuel-efficient than some other V6 – especially V8 – engines.

Horsepower, Torque, and Towing Capacity

The results of the 3.5L V6 engine prove ample power output, providing both a sense of punch with your acceleration and towing performance that hits the sweet spot between practicality and more pronounced versatility. An output of 280 hp and 262 lb-ft of torque is achieved via the sole powertrain of Honda’s 2024 pickup, which is more than adequate for an engine of its size, displacement, and cylinders. The Honda Ridgeline is a pickup truck, and as such, it’s capable of towing. The 2024 Ridgeline has a maximum towing capacity of 5,000 lbs, making it compatible with Class III tow hitches.

Standard All-Wheel Drive

Something that separates the Ridgeline from some other trucks in its class is its AWD, which comes standard with every trim. This helps solidify the idea that the Ridgeline is a truck built for more than the average sunny day and is a vehicle you can take camping or on your favorite trail. AWD coming standard with the Ridgeline helps it stand as a serious contender in midsize pickup truck performance, both on and off-road. The AWD system offers modes for mud, snow, and sand thanks to the incorporation of an Intelligent Traction Management system, so if you’re traveling through any of these three terrains, nothing is stopping you.

Fuel Economy

The 2024 Honda Ridgeline’s V6 engine promotes great fuel efficiency, and since every trim comes with AWD, you’ll get the same results across the board. Honda’s pickup truck earns EPA-estimated ratings of 18 MPG in the city and 24 MPG on the highway.[b] The city and highway mileage ratings are fantastic results for the 2024 Ridgeline, and the 21 MPG combined means that you can expect great fuel efficiency no matter where you drive.

Measurements

The 2024 Honda Ridgeline has one bed configuration across its four trims, which is one of the ways shopping for a Ridgeline is easier and more undemanding compared to other trucks. What the 2024 Ridgeline provides is an interior that prides itself on its vastness, and the truck also has something you don’t see often: an extra storage container. Where is this storage container? Under the truck bed.

A Variety of Storage Areas

The in-bed trunk adds 7.3 cu.ft. to your cargo space and is wholly separate from the bed’s cargo space. The 2024 Ridgeline’s 5.3’-long bed has 33.9 cu.ft. of space. Under the second row of seats is another storage container measuring 2.9 cu.ft., which completes the trifecta of cargo space stemming from the bed, the in-bed trunk, and the 2nd-row under-seat storage.

If you combine the cargo space between the bed, the in-bed trunk, and the under-seat storage, the Ridgeline offers you a total of 44.1 cu.ft. of space. However, unlike the bed, the in-bed trunk is used for more than regular cargo because it has a built-in drain plug to fit it with ice and drinks, which changes the game if you’re into tailgating. Have something important to store there? You can lock the in-bed trunk, which adds an extra layer of security to the cargo situation.

Passenger Space

As for inside the cabin, the first and second rows are both spacious, culminating in a passenger volume of 109.7 cu.ft. on the base trim and 108.9 cu.ft. on all the others. The only other difference between the Sport and the other three trims is front-row headroom, which is 40.1 inches for the base trim and 39.5 inches for the others. All of the other interior dimensions don’t change between trims, including the 38.8 inches of headroom for the second row.

Every trim also has 40.9 inches of legroom in the front and 36.7 inches in the back. There’s only a difference of half an inch between the front and second-row shoulder room, with 62 and 61.5 inches, respectively. The interior is generally wide, which the shoulder room is not only representative of, but so is the 59.1 inches of hip room up front and 56.6 inches for the back row.

Exterior Measurements

What about the exterior? The 2024 Ridgeline, across all trims, has a wheelbase of 125.2 inches and is 210.2 inches long, 70.8 inches tall, and 78.6 inches wide. The 2024 Ridgeline also has a front and rear track of 66.9 and 66.8 inches, along with an ample 7.6 inches of ground clearance, which is decent for off-roading experiences.

Features

Connectivity

The 2024 Ridgeline is built with a list of modern features and genuine enhancements to quality of life. Many of the most distinct features don’t cost any extra, including a 9-inch infotainment center with all four trims. Every 2024 Ridgeline’s infotainment center includes wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, along with features like HondaLink, and a wireless phone charging pad comes standard across all four trims too, which is an incredible showing from Honda because wireless charging pads often don’t make it into entry-level trims, so this is more proof that Honda takes its pickup truck as seriously as the rest of its lineup.

Audio Systems

The first three trims – the Sport, RTL, and TrailSport, all come with an audio system transmitting 215W of power to its seven speakers, not accounting for the built-in subwoofer, which also comes standard. A more bespoke audio system comes with the Black Edition, which is the priciest trim for the 2024 Ridgeline. This upgraded audio system has eight speakers and a subwoofer, and it’s amplified by an astonishing 540W of power to create a soundscape that surrounds and encapsulates anyone listening to it. The Black Edition is also the only trim to have HD Radio standard, but SiriusXM is available for the RTL and Trailsport, in addition to the Black Edition.

Seating Options

Comfort features are greatly expanded upon with the RTL and TrailSport, so if you buy any trim but the Sport model, you’ll get a 10-way power-adjustable driver’s seat with built-in lumbar support and also has built-in tech that allows for two separate seating configurations – perfect for those who will be sharing the vehicle with one other person like a spouse, relative, or friend.

The same trims also have a 4-way power-adjustable seat for the person sitting next to you in the front row, and all trims except the Sport also have heated seats, with the RTL and Black Edition utilizing a genuine leather material for a premium look and feel. With the Black Edition, ventilated seats come standard, and the rear row is treated to heated seats. As for the TrailSport, it receives a faux leather material, but it’s designed with orange-stitched edges for the sporty feel for which the trim is named.

Honda Sensing

Every 2024 Honda Ridgeline trim gets Honda Sensing. In its simplest terms, Honda Sensing is an assortment of safety features, many of which fall under the category of assistive driving. Assistive driving is not the self-driving future many think of when they hear the word ‘assistive,’ instead, it’s features that give you some extra piece of mind, or sometimes a heads-up that an accident could be imminent, whether from your blindside, front end, or rear-end. A perfect example is the Collision Mitigation Braking System which is built to prevent front-end collisions under a certain speed, and the warning you receive beforehand is from the built-in Forward Collision Warning.

Honda Sensing built into every trim also means a Cross Traffic Monitor and Blind Spot Information System both come standard, which are another set of features other manufacturers aren’t so keen on supplying on their base models. However, the rear sensors that assist with surrounding awareness when parking are exclusive to the TrailSport and Black Edition. There are also two sensors placed at the front end of the truck. Honda Sensing also includes Adaptive Cruise Control into the base Ridgeline experience, along with features developed for multi-lane road usage, like Lane Departure Warning, Lane Keeping Assist System, and the Road Departure Mitigation System. All the assistive features built into every Ridgeline model unify into what’s one of the safest midsize pickup trucks on the market.
