Although there is no shortage of compact crossover models available these days, few can come close to the impressive combination of features in the Honda CR-V, particularly with its available hybrid engine. The 2023 Honda CR-V Hybrid is the perfect combination of elegant and efficient performance, luxurious comfort features, and innovative safety technology that has come together to make it a favorite for many drivers. It is particularly popular with new or growing families since it offers a surprisingly spacious interior despite its modest size, which is perfect for busy streets and increasingly-crowded garages. No matter what you are looking for in a fuel-efficient compact crossover, the CR-V Hybrid is a great choice.

The Honda CR-V Hybrid is powered by a 2.0L I-4 engine with a hybrid powertrain that delivers 204 hp for excellent overall performance. This is paired with an electronic continuously variable transmission (E-CVT) designed to be responsive and provide you with an incredibly smooth driving experience. With the standard front-wheel drive (FWD) setup, the CR-V Hybrid gets an EPA-estimated 43 MPG in the city and 36 MPG on the highway, providing you with fantastic efficiency and a lot of miles between stops for gas.[a] All-wheel drive (AWD) is available, reducing that fuel economy slightly while giving you superior traction and control in rough weather or driving on dirt and gravel roads.

There are two Honda CR-V Hybrid models available: the Sport Hybrid and the higher-end Sport Touring Hybrid. Both are excellent vehicles, and choosing the Sport Touring model gets you a heated steering wheel, automatic-dimming rearview mirror, leather-trimmed seats, and a 9-inch infotainment display with a 12-speaker Bose Premium sound system. When it comes to safety, every 2023 CR-V Hybrid model comes with the Honda Sensing suite of technologies, including a Collision Mitigation Braking System, Road Departure Mitigation System, and Adaptive Cruise Control with Low-Speed Follow. The Sport Touring Hybrid model includes a couple of upgrades, such as a Blind Spot Information System and Low-Speed Braking Control, but both are incredibly safe vehicles.

Performance

When considering a compact crossover model, it is easy to overlook something like performance since it is such a small vehicle. And yet, excellent performance is just as important with such a model because you deserve a great driving experience, and you need a vehicle you can rely on to get you and your family where you need to go. The 2023 Honda CR-V Hybrid features an exceptional powertrain with a high-torque traction motor designed to provide you with a fantastic driving experience that is also incredibly efficient.

The 2.0L Hybrid Engine

Every CR-V Hybrid model comes with a 2.0L four-cylinder engine that delivers 204 hp combined between the engine and a two-motor hybrid system. It features a high-voltage lithium-ion battery to power the motor, and the engine is paired with an E-CVT that features B-Range Shift and Deceleration Selectors; B Range helps improve the deceleration effect of lifting up on the accelerator to reduce the need for you to apply your brakes, which helps reduce wear on your brake pads and makes your life easier when you are stuck in traffic. AWD is available for the Sport Hybrid model and standard on the Sport Touring Hybrid. Both models feature a 4-Mode Drive System that lets you prioritize efficiency, daily driving, or performance.

Exceptional Fuel Efficiency

One of the most impressive things about the CR-V Hybrid, and one of the best reasons to choose it, is just how efficient it is. With a standard FWD model, you get an EPA-estimated 43 MPG in the city, 36 MPG on the highway, and 40 MPG of combined fuel economy.[b] If you go with an AWD CR-V Hybrid, those numbers decrease slightly to an EPA-estimated 40 MPG in the city, 34 MPG on the highway, and 37 MPG of combined fuel efficiency.[b] Either way, you can go a long distance between stops for gas, and your choice should depend on the performance you prefer.

Interior

Since most of your time with your vehicle is spent with you inside it while driving, few things are as important to consider as the kinds of features the interior can offer. Of course, you also want to be sure you choose a model that is large enough for your lifestyle and family. Although the Honda CR-V Hybrid is a compact model, it still has room inside for five passengers to be quite comfortable thanks to more than 38 inches of headroom in the front and rear and 41 inches of legroom available for everyone. Particularly impressive is the nearly 40 cu.ft. of rear cargo volume with the CR-V Hybrid, along with more than 76 cu.ft. of total cargo space behind the front seats, giving you plenty of room for everything you need to take with you.

Available Interior Features

In terms of remarkable features, the CR-V Sport Hybrid comes with comfortable seating that includes available heated front seats and a 10-way power-adjustable driver's seat with two-way power lumbar support. The Sport Hybrid comes with a leather-wrapped steering wheel with illuminated controls, a leather-wrapped shift knob, and dual-zone automatic climate control. You will find a standard seven-inch infotainment display in the CR-V Sport Hybrid, along with a 7-inch Driver Information Interface screen, support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a 6-speaker sound system.

Interior Features On the Sport Touring Hybrid

If you go with the 2023 Honda CR-V Sport Touring Hybrid model, then you get a number of upgrades, such as a two-position memory function for the driver's seat, a four-way power-adjustable front-passenger seat, and leather-trimmed seating. The Sport Touring Hybrid version of this Honda SUV also has additional ambient lighting, a heated leather-wrapped steering wheel, and an automatic-dimming rearview mirror. You get wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support in the Sport Touring Hybrid, along with a larger nine-inch Infotainment display, a wireless phone charger, and a 12-speaker Bose Premium sound system with a subwoofer. This all comes together to make for an exceptional driving experience.

Safety

When looking at a vehicle, particularly one for your family, nothing is more important than how well it can keep you and your passengers safe. For many years, Honda has been a leader in developing some of the industry's most impressive safety technology, which continues today. The 2023 CR-V Hybrid models are the perfect examples of that because they come with Honda Sensing Technologies standard to provide you with an incredible selection of safety features without the need to choose a bunch of available options.

Honda Sensing

The Honda Sensing suite includes a Collision Mitigation Braking System that features a Forward Collision Warning and Brake Assist to help you avoid a collision. You also get a Road Departure Mitigation System that features a Lane Departure Warning and Lane Keeping Assist System to help ensure you stay in your lane and on the road—this is especially nice for long drives when fatigue starts to set in. Other standard features include Adaptive Cruise Control with Low-Speed Follow, Traffic Jam Assist, ideal for a daily commute, and a Traffic Sign Recognition System that supports other technologies.

Other Available Safety Features

Auto High-Beam Headlights are standard on both models, along with a Multi-Angle Rearview Camera with Dynamic Guidelines to help you maneuver into and out of tight spots. On the CR-V Sport Hybrid trim, a Blind Spot Information System with a Cross Traffic Monitor is available, though it comes standard on the Sport Touring Hybrid. The Sport Touring Hybrid also has Low-Speed Braking Control, which is unavailable on the other model. Otherwise, both vehicles offer identical safety technology designed to protect you and your loved ones every time you hit the road.
