The SUV is regarded by many as the most efficient and versatile method of transportation. There’s no denying that many brands have turned to scaling down the SUV to make it more accessible to consumers and able to handle the rigors that can sometimes exist while commuting in the city. That said, there’s still a need for full-size SUVs with three rows of seating that can offer maximum storage to those who need it. Join us today as we look closer at some of the best used SUVs for sale near Big Spring, mainly those you’ll find at Classic Honda of Midland.

2021 Ford Explorer

The modern SUV craze would not be as nearly as large as it is today had it not been for the emergence of the Ford Explorer in the early 1990s. Ford proved that the SUV could benefit adventurers and families alike, and the 2021 model year saw the vehicle continue to surpass expectations as one of the leading offerings in the industry.

In 2021, the Escape still came with an optional hybrid powertrain, ideally for drivers looking to maximize their savings at the pump. With 27 MPG in the city and 28 MPG on the highway, the 2021 Explorer proved thrifty. 2021 also introduced the ST-line of the Explorer, which offered performance one might expect from a race car, with a 3.0L V6 that delivered 400 hp.

The Explorer delivered what many SUV owners look for the most: practicality. The Explorer could seat up to eight passengers, seven when captain’s chairs were replaced by the bench seat in the second row. A host of standard safety features and a towing capacity exceeding 5,600 lbs meant that you could bring the whole gang along whether your travels take you to the country or the city limits.

2020 Honda Pilot

While pickup trucks and SUVs are generally associated with domestic brands such as Ford and Chevy, Honda has proven to be just as adept at manufacturing these items for the modern consumer, whose interests and needs are continually evolving. This desire to keep up with the times is certainly evident in the design of the 2020 Honda Pilot.

Equipped with a beefy V6 engine and an available nine-speed automatic transmission, the Pilot offers ideal performance to compliment its three rows of seating, which many drivers are keen to have at their disposal. Aside from being advantageous and practical in this regard, the Pilot is a masterclass in offering customers everything they could wish for regarding safety.

The Pilot received a five-star safety rating from the NHTSA in 2020 and was named a top safety pick by the IIHS in 2019. Suppose these ratings weren’t enough to offer peace of mind. In that case, standard items across every trim, such as adaptive cruise control and forward collision alert, reinforce Honda’s dedication to its clientele.

2018 GMC Yukon

GMC is truly a unique brand that defies many expectations with its offerings. GMC vehicles possess all of the hard-working attributes commonly found with Chevy yet retain all of the sophistication and refinement of Cadillac. The 2028 Yukon, with its three rows of seating and highly capable powertrains, sums up the phrase “best of both worlds” almost too perfectly.

The precession and performance of the Yukon are thoroughly exhibited in its available powertrains, which take the form of a 5.3L V8 with 355 hp and an available 6.2L V8 with 420 hp and the capacity to generate 460 lb-ft of torque. Drivers looking to place themselves in the lap of luxury can do so with the Denali trim, which includes leather upholstery and a host of items that enhance every moment on the road. With the capability many continually seek and the sophistication that gives similar offerings for BMW and Audi a run for their money, the GMC Yukon is three rows with a dash of upscale styling.

2021 Cadillac Escalade

There are many reasons why modern drivers opt for SUVs. Some enjoy the storage, some enjoy having plenty of seating available, and there are also those options that serve as symbols of status. Tailfins have been missing from their offerings for quite some time now, but Cadillac is still that standard for vehicles that declare style, status, and luxury. The Escalade, which rose to massive popularity in the early 2000s thanks to its numerous appearances in music videos, is still in production and exists in a class all its own.

2021 was a unique year for Cadillac’s three-row luxury SUV, as it marked the beginning of the vehicle’s fifth generation and a continued effort to merge the SUV with unsurpassed sophistication and luxury. Drivers could choose between a 6.2L V8, the same one offered on the GMC Yukon, or a diesel six-cylinder, which offered better fuel economy, with 21 MPG in the city and 27 MPG on the highway, a monumental achievement for a full-sized SUV.

The Escalade was also equipped with a new suspension that could handle the city streets, and aside from its wealth of performance and style, new technology made an appearance that showed the vehicle was far ahead of the curve, not to mention the competition. The 2021 Escalade could be equipped with adaptive cruise control, the revolutionary SuperCruise technology, and GM’s semi-autonomous hands-free driving mode. Two 12.6-inch screens provided access to all of the features you could ever ask for, and an available stereo system with 36 speakers is an audiophile’s dream come true.

2022 Nissan Armada

If luxury is outside your wheelhouse and practicality is your preference, the 2022 Nissan Armada is more than suitable. The Armada has benefited from Nissan’s recent practice of streamlining production with eight powertrains. This means that spare parts are abundant, and drivers benefit from the same performance, no matter which trim they opt for. The Armada’s powertrain consists of a 5.6L V8 with 400 hp and the capability to generate 413 lb-ft of torque. An impressive tower, the Armada can pull 8,500 lbs with minimal difficulty, making it ideal for those who need storage and a means to facilitate an inter-state adventure.

When it comes to keeping yourself entertained on a long stretch of roadway, a standard 12.3-inch infotainment screen provides access to Apple and Android services and the chance to take advantage of Sirius XM Satellite Radio. There are also plenty of standard safety features to allow for peace of mind during your travels.

This is a great question; the answer ultimately comes down to what you’re looking for and what you need from your next vehicle. Here at Classic Honda of Midland, we work hard to maintain a diverse selection of pre-owned makes and models so that we can help every customer find what they’re looking for, including terrific luxury SUVs. If you’ve been looking at used SUVs for sale near Odessa, you owe it to yourself to check out our selection and see what we have for you. For many people, the choice of a used luxury SUV is all about getting gorgeous styling, high-end features, and sophisticated options while skipping the initial depreciation that some luxury models are known for.

The beauty of any used vehicle is that you get it at a lower price and retain more of its value while you enjoy it compared to a new model. This is doubly true for luxury options like the BMW X5 or similar vehicles since some of these brands are known for experiencing more severe initial depreciation than others. Even if you’re interested in a model that retains its value in any situation, like the Acura RDX, going with a pre-owned option still helps you get more for your money. Most importantly, a used luxury SUV doesn’t mean you’re missing out on anything, since you can find a wide range of models with remarkable features to enjoy.

What Kinds of Features Can You Find?

Although this can vary from one model to another, depending on what luxury SUV you’re looking at and the trim level you find, in general, you’ll get comfort and technology that most other drivers can only dream of. This starts on the outside of these kinds of vehicles, with the experience you have from the very moment you first see and approach them. You’ll find exterior lighting that not only illuminates the road beautifully but also adds to the exterior design of luxury SUVs. Functionality goes hand-in-hand with style, so look for things like programmable rear liftgates that you can set to a height that works best for you, as well as hands-free open/close functions that make it easy to load and unload the rear of your SUV.

Inside, however, is where luxury models set themselves apart from other types of SUVs in numerous ways that you must experience to fully appreciate. Driving around Odessa, nothing beats comfort options like ventilated seats that help keep you cool on hot summer days. If you spend a lot of time on the road—for example, if you need to head to Dallas, Fort Worth, or San Antonio regularly for work—then the exquisite comfort in a luxury SUV can’t be beat. Not only can you find seating that lets you make a lot of adjustments to get as comfortable as possible, but even next-level features like massage functionality are on offer. Being surrounded by soft-touch materials and premium leather seating elevates your entire experience every time you hit the road.

These days, innovative technology is just as important as anything else in the auto industry and few places illustrate that as well as the luxury market. As you look at pre-owned SUVs from brands like Acura, BMW, and Land Rover, you can find all kinds of advanced tech features, including large infotainment displays, advanced Navigation systems, and driver screens for the instrument cluster that you can customize to perfectly meet your needs.

Wireless connectivity for streaming your favorite audio is common in luxury SUVs these days, along with more features like wireless charging pads that make it easy to keep your devices charged. You can even find cutting-edge technology like full-color head-up displays projected onto your windshield and the latest driver-assistance technology, including hands-free functionality in select models. Getting these kinds of features while skipping the initial depreciation that someone else had to deal with can’t be beat.

Stunning Models to Look For

Finding the right vehicle, no matter what you’re interested in, can be tricky, which is why it helps to choose a dealership that will always put your needs first. It also helps to narrow down your options a bit and focus on certain brands and models that make it easier to find everything you’ve been looking for. Acura, for example, is one of the most prestigious luxury brands out there, with fantastic sedans and SUVs for you to choose from. A pre-owned Acura RDX is one of our favorite options when we work with customers looking for a high-end used SUV, which can include powerful engines, gorgeous exterior and interior details, and innovative technology to improve your time behind the wheel.

If you’re looking for a powerful SUV that’s perfect for taking you on an adventure or dealing with a lot of dirt and gravel roads, then a Land Rover is the perfect choice. The luxurious Land Rover Discovery is an amazing pick with powerful engines, gorgeous and sophisticated interior details, and advanced air suspension for unparalleled comfort and stability no matter what the road throws at you. Few brands typify American luxury quite like Cadillac, and few models illustrate this as well as the legendary Escalade. With a Cadillac Escalade, you get incredible power, a spacious and beautifully appointed interior, and the latest GM technology—many models feature hands-free Super Cruise technology. You might even look for an Escalade-V high-performance version if you want a used luxury SUV that delivers heart-pounding power and speed.

Other Considerations When Shopping for a Used Luxury SUV

One of the most important things to keep in mind when exploring different used luxury SUVs is that the features you find vary greatly from one vehicle to another. Even if you’re looking at two of the same model, like an Escalade, you might see some big differences between them if they have different trims or from different model years. Similarly, what one brand considers a luxurious option might be standard on every trim of another vehicle—also, standard features change and update frequently, so always consider the model year you’re looking at.

These differences can be significant, which is why it’s so important that you shop with people who know their vehicles inside and out and who can help you find the perfect ride. Whether you need something to get around Odessa, head to your favorite weekend destination, or want a used luxury SUV as a birthday or graduation gift, you have plenty of great options to choose from. Just make sure you shop with people who offer great used models available, so you get something you know you can count on for a long time.

Find the Vehicle You’ve Been Looking For

A used luxury SUV is the perfect way to experience the refinement and sophistication that these vehicles are well known for while also getting an amazing ride you can count on to retain its value for as long as possible. Letting someone else foot the bill for initial depreciation on a new model is a great strategy when shopping for your next vehicle, and choosing a gorgeous ride like the Acura RDX or Cadillac Escalade is the perfect way to ensure you don’t miss out on anything important.

These are powerful SUVs that are beautifully appointed inside, designed to keep you and your passengers comfortable for many hours on the road, and feature advanced technology that leaves most other vehicles in their dust. All you have to do now is decide on what sorts of features are most important to you, and then we’ll make sure you find everything you want.

Have you been looking for a new vehicle and have settled on shopping for a Honda Pilot for sale? Are you also willing to purchase the latest model but are wondering what each trim level has to offer? Regardless of why you’re here with us today, you’re in luck because we’ve got the rundown on the Honda Pilot.

2023 Honda Pilot LX

The Honda Pilot LX is the base-level option for this midsize SUV. The 2023 model year marks the twentieth incarnation, with the first Pilot model released in 2003. This year’s Pilot LX dawns a starting price of $35,950, making it the most cost-effective Pilot model by at least a few thousand dollars.[a] The Pilot is one of those models where only one powertrain is available throughout its six trims. This means if horsepower, torque, and towing are important to you, then you can save some money by investing in the base model. To the benefit of every buyer, the Pilot LX has a 3.5L V6 engine paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission running the show. The result is 285 hp and 262 lb-ft of torque, and the Pilot LX can even tow a maximum capacity of 5,000 lbs.

Performance aside, the LX is a feature-packed base model, barring some of the more exclusive luxury features that each of the following trims offer. However, this is nothing but expected given the price difference, but even at its more affordable price, the base Honda Pilot still rocks a 7-inch infotainment center with features like Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Bluetooth. Entertainment features are all well and good, but what we believe makes the LX a great option for anyone looking to purchase the Pilot for general commuting and traveling with friends and family is the inclusion of the Honda Sensing suite.

2023 Honda Pilot Sport

Stepping up into the Sport is an excellent idea for many reasons. The Sport starts at an MSRP of $39,150, but thanks to the abundance of features that differentiate it from the base model, it’s worth every penny.[a] The Sport shares many of the same features as the LX, such as cloth seats, five drive modes (Normal, ECON, Snow, Tow, and Sport,) and the 7-inch infotainment center complete with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. However, unlike the LX, the Sport adds more favorable amenities, like a 10-way power-adjustable driver’s seat with power lumbar support to replace the manually-adjustable driver’s chair on the LX. Similarly, the Sport removes the manually-adjustable passenger chair and instead replaces it with a 4-way power-adjustable chair. As a bonus to Sport drivers, the front seats are also heated, and the steering wheel gets a pleasing leather wrapping.

2023 Honda Pilot EX-L

The next trim available is the EX-L which has a starting MSRP of $42,300.[a] Like the LX and Sport, this model is available in two-wheel or all-wheel drive. However, you’ll have the option of two additional drive modes if you opt for all-wheel drive: Trail and Sand. The EX-L is also the first of the six trims to replace the cloth seating with genuine leather, which is a perfect fit for the leather steering wheel that was introduced with the Sport.

The Pilot EX-L is also more advanced than the two entry-level trims because it replaces the standard 7-inch infotainment center with a larger and more robust infotainment center, one that hosts a myriad of extra features that aren’t available on the base unit. The new infotainment center has a 9-inch screen with SiriusXM radio, and your SUV will also get an upgrade to Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. With this trim, you will also get a wireless phone charging pad for your smartphone or any other Qi-Compatible device, but USB ports still come installed in the vehicle, regardless.

The center console is shown in a 2023 Honda Pilot for sale.

2023 Honda Pilot TrailSport

If you want to take your Honda Pilot off-roading, you’ll have the most success in a TrailSport. The Pilot TrailSport starts at an MSRP of $48,700 and is different from its peers in a few ways.[a] Not only does the TrailSport reduce the seating capacity to seven passengers, but it’s also distinctive with unique styling that separates it from the other Pilot trims. The most notable difference between the interiors besides passenger capacity is the leather seats with orange accent stitching.

To compensate for the potential regular off-roading schedule, the TrailSport comes with seven total drive modes, like the EX-L. However, unlike the EX-L, the TrailSport comes equipped with specifically off-roading-focused suspension and All-Terrain tires. Aside from that, the TrailSport also gets the 9-inch infotainment center that comes with the EX-L and the wireless variants of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, but the TrailSport is the first of the six trims to add heating elements to the leather steering wheel.

2023 Honda Pilot Touring

The Touring is much like the EX-L, meaning it has eight seats, five drive modes – two extra if you purchase an AWD model – and the 9-inch infotainment center with Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. However, the Touring––with its MSRP of $46,800––is a great way to further the potential of your mid-size SUV’s luxurious amenities.[a] The Touring is a fantastic way to add further quality-of-life changes to the already feature-jam-packed Pilot. With the Touring, you’ll get a massive panoramic moonroof that sits above you and all your passengers, and your infotainment center will include Honda’s in-house navigation software. You’ll get a dozen Bose speakers comprising a premium audio setup, with a subwoofer, too, along with many more features that take the Pilot experience above and beyond what you’re currently driving.

2023 Honda Pilot Elite

The question you have to ask yourself is, “Can it get even better than the Touring?” Yes! There is something special about how Honda is able to take something you believe is perfect the way it is and continue to improve upon it. Let’s look at the 2023 Honda Pilot Elite. This trim has an MSRP of $52,380.[a]

Say you’re a commuter, drive with family and friends, or you’re an Uber or Lyft driver; the 2023 Pilot Eliite’s goal is to make each passenger as comfortable as the driver, which is something not enough vehicles do. For example, the front-row passenger gets a ventilated and heated seat, much like the driver, but even the second-row passengers get heated seats, which is a luxury that many passengers will be glad to have if needed. The Elite also includes a digital instrument cluster displayed on a 10.2-in screen that replaces the analog gauges on the other models, and a Heads-Up Display (HUD) is projected onto the driver’s portion of the windshield, but does so without intruding on your view of the road.

A grey 2023 Honda Pilot Elite is shown from the rear driving in the rain.

Premium, Premium, or More Premium?

Something that we believe you may have noticed is how much of a great value the Pilot is, regardless of which trim level suits your needs, wants, and budget. The Pilot is one of those automobiles that you can simply trust, and even if you’re looking to save money by purchasing the entry-level LX model, you’ll still be getting an experience worthy of the Honda brand and the Pilot badging. You can find these trim levels, or allow us to help you custom order one to your liking by visiting us at Classic Honda of Midland.

Here in Midland, Texas, family drivers like big vehicles. That shouldn’t come as a surprise since we Texans like big things. But for some families, a big sedan or full-size pickup truck just isn’t going to cut it. For these folks, they need a three-row SUV to be able to provide enough space for every family member. These models can seat anywhere from seven to nine passengers like a van but give you more to offer than you will ever get from a van. For one thing, three-row SUVs can be quite rugged and fun to drive, two words no one ever associated with a minivan.

However, there is one issue, and that is affordability. These days, providing for a large family can be quite costly, which is why so many Midland drivers come to us looking for high-quality used vehicles. This is probably why Classic Honda of Midland has become a great dealer for used SUVs for sale in Midland. We have a vast inventory and a reputation for providing quality used models at a very affordable price. When you come to our dealership, you are going to find some of these family-friendly three-row SUVs for sale. Each one has something to offer and will provide you with the driving experience and roominess you desire.

The Honda Pilot

Honda’s entry into the three-row SUV category is among one of the best values available. With a choice of front-wheel and all-wheel drive to go along with its standard V6 engine, the Pilot delivers excellent performance with solid fuel economy. It also features plenty of standard technological features, like an advanced infotainment system and plenty of driver assistance systems.

Like most Honda models, the Pilot excels at space maximization. When you look around the interior of the Pilot, you will see plenty of comfort and convenience features like USB ports for phone charging and beverage holders for each passenger. While it doesn’t have the roomiest third row of seats, it will still provide plenty of space for the kids. The pilot was introduced in 2003 as Honda’s largest SUV. A fourth-generation model was introduced in 2023, so you should have no problem finding a really good used third-generation Pilot model for sale.

The Volkswagen Atlas

Like the Pilot, the Atlas is VW’s largest model and its main entry in the three-row midsize SUV category. It is also a great value for someone looking for a three-row model with space for the whole family. The Atlas also features Volkswagen’s Car-Net 2.0 infotainment system, although the touchscreen sizes may vary depending on the trim level and year of the model you are considering.

The other thing about the Atlas is that VW has been offering the model with a choice of engines for quite a few years. One is a turbocharged I-4 for improved fuel economy, and the other is a V6 for better overall acceleration. In addition, Volkswagen offers the Atlas with a choice of front-wheel and all-wheel drive, the latter of which will give you improved traction.

A red 2020 Toyota Highlander is shown from the front at an angle.

Two Models From Toyota

Toyota is known for having a very impressive lineup of SUVs, so it is no surprise that it offers two of our favorite three-row models. The Toyota Highlander is a very attractive midsize SUV that offers an excellent option for suburban drivers. With a choice of a sporty V6 engine and a hybrid powertrain, the Highlander lets you choose which is more important to you. Many family drivers concerned about reducing fuel consumption will appreciate that a used Highlander Hybrid will give them compact car fuel economy in a model with room for up to eight passengers.

The other three-row Toyota model that really stands out from the crowd is the 4Runner. As its name implies, this model has some serious off-road capabilities depending on the trim you find. This is because the 4Runner is available with four-wheel drive, giving you a great vehicle for Midland drivers who need a model to handle the trail. One thing to keep in mind is that the third row of seats is an option on the 4Runner. So, if you are looking for one, make sure it has that third row so you can seat up to seven passengers comfortably.

A Pair of SUVS From Ford

One of the oldest automakers is also one that has focused in recent years on building SUVs. Ford delivers with a pair of three-row models that also provide excellent options for driving around town or taking the kids to the Permian Basin Petroleum Museum for an educational excursion. The Ford Explorer is a midsize SUV with three rows of seats and an exceptional amount of cargo space in the trunk. This makes it a great choice for active families. In addition, you can find a used Explorer with four-wheel drive and a great choice of engines, including a hybrid. This provides you with the ability to decide on the performance you want out of your SUV.

For those needing more space, the Ford Expedition is a full-size SUV that provides great interior space for passengers and cargo. The benefit of buying a full-size SUV is that you don’t have to compromise between cargo hauling and that third row of seats like you may find in many midsize models.

The Dodge Durango

Dodge has become synonymous with high-performance sports cars. With its famous HEMI V8 gas engine, Dodge cars are known for giving drivers unrivaled speed and acceleration. The Durango is Dodge’s three-row SUV model, but with a twist. Where many of the other three-row SUVs are designed for comfort and convenience or off-road capabilities, the Durango is made for the family that loves thrill rides. If you choose a used one with a HEMI V8, you are going to get the kids to school faster than most other parents with midsize SUVs from other brands.

The Jeep Grand Cherokee L

Jeep helped build the luxury SUV brand when it first introduced the Grand Cherokee back in 1993. However, it was not until 2021 that Jeep decided it was time to offer a three-row model. The Grand Cherokee L has everything you love about a Jeep, like its ruggedness and four-wheel drive, but with a difference. This model is Jeep’s only three-row SUV, with the ability to seat up to seven passengers. The Grand Cherokee L’s off-road capabilities make it perfect if you want to take the kids out to the Sibley Nature Center or the I-20 Wildlife Preserve. You will see all that this great part of Texas has to offer from inside a very roomy and comfortable SUV.

Check Out These Three Chevy Options

With a history to rival Ford, Chevy has staked its claim as one of the leading automakers in America. With this in mind, it should be no surprise that Chevy offers three exceptional three-row SUV models for Midland drivers. The Traverse is a midsize SUV that is ideal for suburban drivers who want a vehicle that is easy to handle and roomy enough for most families. Chevy introduced its latest generation of the Traverse in 2024, but there are still plenty of used Traverses available to choose from.

Chevy also offers a pair of the largest three-row SUVs available. The Tahoe is a rugged full-size SUV that is roomy enough for up to nine passengers. Meanwhile, the Suburban is not only the longest-running model name dating back to 1935, but it is also the industry leader in available cargo space. The Tahoe and Suburban are perfect for Midland drivers who want plenty of room for the family but also a vehicle they can use for work, whether they are moving things or carrying equipment to a job site. This versatility helps set this pair of three-row full-size SUVs apart from their rivals.

Some Midland drivers like the finer things in life. These folks want a standard of luxury that is unmatched in their vehicles. For these families, nothing can beat a used Cadillac Escalade. One of the most recognizable names in three-row SUVS, the Escalade pulls out the stops when it comes to comfort and convenience features, with advanced infotainment systems and a high-quality leather interior. If you are a parent who loves to dress to impress, then nothing can match a used Cadillac Escalade.

A grey 2024 Honda Pilot Trailsport is shown from the front at an angle.

Since its introduction for the 2003 model year, the Honda Pilot has claimed its place among the leading three-row midsize SUVs. This is because Honda took its knowledge in building spacious and dependable vehicles and applied it to a larger-sized SUV with room for up to eight passengers. In doing so, Honda filled a niche for many drivers with large families who wanted one of their vehicles. Where other Honda models couldn’t accommodate large family or friend groups, the Pilot offers this capability while retaining all the things drivers have come to love about the brand, including roomy interiors, advanced safety features, solid fuel economy, and affordable prices. Nevertheless, one need remained unfulfilled until recently, which is off-road capability.

In recent years, an increasing number of drivers have fallen in love with off-roading. These motorists want a vehicle that can serve as a daily driver but also have the capability of providing adventure. This is why the 2024 Honda Pilot features a dedicated off-road trim level called the TrailSport. At Classic Honda of Midland, we understand drivers like you who want more out of their Pilot, which is why we are proud to offer the TrailSport model. When you come to our dealership, our sales team will be happy to show you why the Pilot TrailSport makes a great choice for drivers who want all of the benefits of a Pilot with off-road capability.

The Origins of the TrailSport

The folks at Honda saw many of their competitors coming out with models designed for off-roading or special editions with a dedicated off-road trim. These vehicles provide greater ground clearance, different tires and suspension systems, and other features that make hitting the trail possible. This is because off-roading subjects your vehicle to added risks from underneath, like rocks and branches and uneven terrain. Where most vehicles are built to optimize performance on the road, boosting speed and fuel economy, off-road models have to take into account other factors.

With this in mind, Honda introduced the TrailSport trim to the 2022 Pilot, the last year of the third generation. This equipped the Pilot with special features not found on other models, giving drivers the ability to handle the trail with peace of mind that they wouldn’t damage their vehicle. Honda continued the TrailSport for the fourth generation, which was introduced in 2023.

Aside from a larger interior than the prior generation, the Pilot also got a boost in its standard 3.5-liter V6 gas engine. Honda equips this with a 10-speed automatic transmission instead of the 9-speed automatic from the third generation. This results in a slight increase in horsepower from 280 hp to 285 hp. The engine continues to deliver 262 lb-ft of torque. The fourth generation also provides more trunk space, 21.8 cu.ft. compared to 18.5 cu.ft. in the prior model. This is easy to access with the Programmable Power Tailgate that comes on the TrailSport model.

A blue 2024 Honda Pilot Trailsport is shown from the rear at an angle.

Built for Adventure

In designing the TrailSport, Honda knew it needed to go with a rugged exterior featuring many items that differentiate it from other Pilot trims. For example, where every other Pilot rides on all-season tires, the TrailSport features all-terrain tires wrapped around 18-inch shark gray alloy wheels. All-terrain tires have stronger sidewalls and deeper treads, which assist with improved traction and are more puncture-resistant. The alloy wheels feature the TrailSport logo and have black lug nuts to offset the wheel color. In addition, Honda gives the Pilot TrailSport a full-size spare tire since a smaller tire might be problematic if you get a flat when out on the trail.

The TrailSport has been given a 0.6-inch factory lift to its off-road tuned suspension. That translates into the TrailSport having more ground clearance than the other models of the 2024 Pilot. In fact, you get 8.3 inches of ground clearance, which will help you get over more obstacles than other trims.

The factory lift also helps with the Pilot TrailSport’s angles, something you will need to get up and over obstacles when off-roading. The TrailSport has a 19.8-degree approach angle, a 19.6-degree breakover angle, and a 19.0-degree departure angle. This model of the Pilot also gets a tighter steering ratio of 14.8:1, giving it an improved turning diameter. This is another feature that will come in handy when you are out on the trail.

As you would expect from an off-road model, the Pilot TrailSport has a standard all-wheel drivetrain with a Trail & Sand mode for improved performance when you are out trail running. Underbody skid plates shield the engine and fuel tank, providing peace of mind when traversing an obstacle. These will protect the critical underbody of your Pilot and are a class exclusive to the TrailSport. In addition, you have front and rear recovery points, which will come in handy if your Pilot gets stuck on the trail. Simply tow or winch yourself to firmer ground without damaging your vehicle’s front bumper. Finally, the TrailSport is the only model of the 2024 Pilot that comes with a standard integrated class III trailer hitch. This allows you to tow up to 5,000 lbs.

A Comfortable and Welcoming Cabin With Ample Passenger and Cargo Space

Honda has built its reputation on featuring vehicles with roomy and convenient passenger cabins. The 2024 Honda Pilot TrailSport continues this tradition. The model can seat up to seven passengers, with a second-row set of captain’s chairs and a 60/40-split bench in the third row. One of the biggest improvements for the fourth-generation Pilot is the increase in interior space. The TrailSport model provides 154.9 cu.ft. of passenger space, including a very generous 32.5 inches of legroom in the third row. This will allow your third-row passengers to stretch out and enjoy a day on the trails.

The seats on the Pilot TrailSport feature durable synthetic leather that has been given attractive orange stitching. These will stand up to whatever your passengers track in from outside, as they are easy to clean, while still providing the look and feel of actual leather. The front seats are heated, which will come in handy on cold winter mornings. The steering wheel is also heated and leather-wrapped for improved grip.

One thing that has set Honda apart from many of its competitors is its ability to maximize space. This is shown by the fact that the Pilot TrailSport offers 14 beverage holders and six USB charging ports strategically placed throughout the three rows of seats. This will help your passengers stay hydrated while keeping their devices charged. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come standard on the Pilot TrailSport, so you can make hands-free calls and texts, even if you accidentally leave your charging cables at home.

The TrailSport has a One-Touch Power Moonroof, which allows you to bring the outdoors inside your Pilot’s cabin. This is a nice feature to have when riding around some of the more scenic trails here in Texas. Honda has equipped the TrailSport with the full lineup of Honda Sensing driver-assistive technology features. One of the most unique is its Multi-View Camera System, which is only available on the TrailSport and Elite models.

This includes cameras in the front and rear bumpers and the driver and passenger side view mirrors. These provide front, front wide angle, rear, rear wide angle, left and right side, and ground views. There is even a Front Camera Washer to help clean off any dirt that may accumulate after a day spent off-roading. One of the best features is the TrailWatch. This comes on automatically when you shift into Trail mode. The 9-inch standard infotainment screen will help you view the terrain in front of your Pilot TrailSport as you crest a hill or cross over a narrow ridge.

Adventure Awaits Behind the Wheel of the 2024 Honda Pilot TrailSport

The TrailSport stands apart from the other trims on the 2024 Honda Pilot, giving drivers who want a little more adventure the ability to take their SUV off-roading. Still, with its roomy and comfortable interior, the Pilot TrailSport can also serve as a great daily driver, with space for up to seven passengers and plenty of cargo room. The standard comfort and convenience features on the TrailSport help each passenger enjoy the ride, whether you are going for a quiet drive around Midland or pushing the limits on a nearby trail. Come in today and see why you should make the 2024 Honda Pilot TrailSport your next SUV!

2017 Nissan Armada

Nissan has always been a brand closely associated with technological innovation. While their most popular SUV is the Rogue, they’ve also proven that the world of the full-sized SUV is also in their repertoire, such is the case with the 2017 Armada. Midland drivers will thoroughly enjoy the unique combination of power and capability that’s mingled with a heavy dose of luxury to provide a smooth and sophisticated feeling.

The 2017 Armada is powered by a beefy 5.6L V8 engine that’s paired with a seven-speed automatic transmission for exceptional performance and capability. With 390 hp and 394 lb-ft of torque, this SUV can sit alongside many domestic offerings as a powerhouse. The interior of the vehicle is accentuated by soft surfaces and a center console with wood trim that adds that special flavor of luxury that so many drivers crave. There’s over 95.4 cu.ft. of storage room, and if that wasn’t enough, the vehicle can also easily pull 8,500 lbs when properly equipped. 2021 Honda Pilot

As you might have ascertained from the title of our location, Honda happens to be our specialty and extolling the virtues of their offerings is something we never got tired of. The 2021 Honda Pilot is no exception. While many full-sized SUVs are still being propelled by eight cylinder engines, Honda equips theirs with an highly-economical V6 and a performance-oriented nine-speed automatic transmission. With the increased population density around midland, conservative fuel economy becomes essential.

Despite being a full-sized SUV with three rows of seating and 83.9 available cubic feet of storage space, the Pilot is geared towards going farther for less. EPA estimates from the 2021 model year showed a city-wide fuel economy of 20 MPG, a number that increases to 27 MPG on the highway. Because many drivers looking for full-sized SUVs are family-oriented, the Pilot has standard safety features, including adaptive cruise control and automated emergency braking. The Pilot was also awarded a five-star safety rating from the NHTSA in collision testing.

2018 Chevy Tahoe

It’s almost impossible to discuss the full-sized SUV without mentioning one of the most respected brands in the industry, Chevrolet. Partially responsible for the modern SUV boom that’s occurred over the past two decades, the 2018 Tahoe delivers power and precision and allows for heavy jobs to be accomplished and new grounds to explore. Built on the chassis of a pickup truck and equipped with two optional V8 engines, this is one SUV for Midland residents who work hard and play harder.

Drivers have the option of choosing between a 5.3L V8 with 355 hp or a 6.2L that comes equipped with a ten-speed automatic transmission and 420 hp. Available in either RWD or 4WD, the Tahoe can be utilized for either off-roading or work duties. With over 94.7 available cubic feet of storage room and a towing capacity of 6,600 lbs, there’s very little that can’t be accomplished by this titan of the road.

2021 Ford Expedition

One of the most popular and well-known offerings from Ford, the Expedition, is the old veteran from the days when the driving concept behind many SUV designs was “bigger is better.” Ford’s full-size offering is a powerhouse, one that many residents of Midland will certainly identify with, especially with the blue-collared mentality that permeates throughout the community. For the 2021 model year, Ford spared little in the way of offering high-grade performance.

Equipped with a turbocharged 3.5L V6 engine and a ten-speed automatic transmission, the same one that comes standard in the F-150, the Expedition is just as capable as their flagship pickup truck. With well over 104 cu.ft. of room for storing, and a towing capacity of 9,000 lbs when properly equipped. Despite its rough and tough exterior, the interior of the 2021 Expedition is refined and sophisticated, with upper trims having such items as leather upholstery, navigation, and a high-end stereo system. Providing a unique contrast of luxury and performance, the Expedition continues to turn heads and offer drivers everything they could ever ask for.

2020 Toyota 4Runner

Another vehicle that deserves a lot of credit for the popularization of the SUV over the past few decades, the Toyota 4Runner got its start during the 1980s and has been a favorite among those who need storage space and also enjoy adventures that take place off of the beaten path. Its V6 engine provides plenty of robust performance which includes 270 hp and a 5,000 lb tow rating. Midland residents who like to escape the confines of the big city and explore new grounds will certainly find the 4Runner one of the best vehicles to facilitate this, especially with its multiple trims formulated for these journeys.

Storage space is remarkably generous, with over 89 available cubic feet, perfectly suited for those long treks away from normalcy that require plenty of provisions and supplies. The 2020 version of the 4Runner also comes with a host of standard safety features, such as adaptive cruise control. It’s everything you need in a single, convenient package.

A silver 2021 Honda Passport is shown driving on a trail after looking at used SUVs for sale.

Midsize SUVs are a popular vehicle segment because they offer generous passenger and cargo volume while still not being as massive as a full-size or three-row SUV. Drivers looking for used SUVs for sale in the midsize segment can count on some modest towing abilities and fuel economy that won’t break the bank. However, if you’re after terrific comfort features, we can recommend three pre-owned models with features that will help you and your passengers enjoy long rides. Here are three midsize SUVs boasting excellent comfort features to enhance your daily drive to work and beyond.

The 2021 Honda Passport

The Honda Passport is a spacious midsize SUV with available all-wheel drive and some pretty impressive towing powers for its vehicle size. Everyone from the front to the back will be happy in the 2021 Honda Passport, thanks to an array of comfort features.

Active Noise Cancellation

Many drivers look to their vehicles to escape from outside stimuli. If you want to feel like your SUV cabin is an oasis that makes exterior sounds melt away, you’ll enjoy the Active Noise Cancellation of the 2021 Honda Passport. This system has strategically placed microphones throughout the cabin that continuously monitor the sound inside the cabin. If it detects unwanted noises, it emits an opposite signal that cancels out the original noise, creating a peaceful and quiet SUV interior.

11 Beverage Holders

With 11 available beverage holders in the Passport, never again will passengers fight for a spot for water bottles or coffee cups. Having 11 beverage holders means having two total beverage compartments for everyone, so each passenger can feel free to bring that iced latte and water on the road.

Tri-Zone Automatic Climate Control

Thanks to available Tri-Zone Automatic Climate Control, you no longer need to field backseat complaints about the cabin temperature. Your rear seat passengers can set their own preferred temperature. Plus, this system has a humidity control system to keep the air from getting too dry or too moist in the cabin. It even has an air filtration system to keep particles and debris out of the air.

Adjustable Front Seat Armrest

You and your co-pilot will have a nice spot to rest your elbows on long drives. Plus, this armrest is adjustable, so slide it back or forth to your liking.

Generous Passenger Volume

With 115 cu.ft. of passenger volume, the Passport has more than enough space to keep five adult passengers content on long drives.

A Highly Adjustable Seat

An available 10-way power adjustable driver’s seat with lumbar support gives you the power to settle into the perfect position for long drives and fight fatigue in your lower back. Arrive at your destination feeling fresh and nimble, thanks to lumbar support. This system also has two-position memory, so it can recall the preferred settings of up to two drivers.

Second-Row Sunshades

Do your rear-seat passengers want a little reprieve from the sun’s rays? No problem. They can just put down the rear seat sunshades (no more hanging sweatshirts over windows).

Heated and Ventilated Front Seats

With available heated and ventilated front seats, you and your co-pilot will be comfortably cool on hot days and toasty on cold ones.

Heated Front and Rear Seats

The Blazer doesn’t just have heated seats for the driver and front-seat passenger; the rear outboard seats get heated, too. So everyone can get that nice full-body warmth on cold days.

Ambient Lighting

Create a calming atmosphere in the Blazer with its ambient lighting. You can create the mood you want in your vehicle with these smartly-placed adjustable lights.

A red 2018 Honda CR-V is shown driving on a highway with an ocean view.

For millions of consumers, having an adequate and reliable method of transportation is a necessity. Because of financial obligations such as home and family, many have turned to purchasing used vehicles to fill this void. With so many makes and models to choose from, narrowing down the options that will be ideal for your situation and circumstances can sometimes seem more difficult than it actually is. For a manufacturer with an abundance of options for the daily commute, look no further than a used Honda for sale.

The Japanese manufacturer has long been celebrated as one of the industry’s most reliable brands and has always produced vehicles with the average driver in mind. While it’s not difficult to find a used Honda for sale, many vehicles constitute their fleet, and it might take some well-thought-out research to figure out which one works best for you. The selection you’ll find at Classic Honda of Midland is an expansive one, and we put some research into some of the offerings that are ideal for day-to-day life. Take a look at some Honda models that are sure to enhance your daily commute.

The 2018 Honda CR-V

For the family-oriented consumer, the SUV has become the ideal method of transportation. Providing a chassis that reinforces safety, a stripped-down size that pales in comparison to the large land titans from the early 2000s, and ample storage space that’s perfect for activities from soccer practice to science fairs, the Honda CR-V checks all of these boxes and has been consistently one of the most popular options in the marketplace. For the 2018 model year, the CR-V received various accolades that speak to Honda’s tireless devotion to its craft. A 10/10 score from Car and Driver magazine and a five-star safety rating from the NHTSA were among the most notable accomplishments.[a][b]

When it comes to presenting its clientele with practicality, the Honda CR-V doesn’t lack by any means. Over 75 available cu.ft. of storage space means having that extra room for grocery and department store runs. With the seats up, the available 39 cu.ft. of space is more than double the average trunk size of a sedan (15 cu.ft.). Daily activities can be undertaken without repeat trips to the pump, as the 2018 CR-V possesses a combined EPA-estimated fuel economy of 30 MPG.[c] The EPA estimates that this equates to an annual savings of $750 on fuel costs over the course of five years. Perfect for planning that family road trip.

A popular used Honda for sale, a red 2019 Honda Accord, is shown driving through a city.

The 2019 Honda Civic

For many years, the Honda Civic has been a favorite of many different drivers. Offering peppy acceleration, conservative fuel consumption, and a penchant for style, it’s one of the highest-selling sedans you’ll come across. With so many advantages to behold, it’s no wonder why the vehicle has remained in high demand since its debut. For 2019, the Civic continued to add to its impressive reputation courtesy of a variety of powertrain options that adhered to the different specifications that drivers gravitate towards.

For those who favored control over their commute, a six-speed manual transmission was available. For those who wanted to preserve fuel economy, a CVT (Continuous Variable Transmission) allowed for exceptional performance, allowing the Civic to get an EPA-estimated 32 MPG in the city and 42 MPG on the highway, allowing drivers to get the most between fill-ups.[c] This led to savings that surpassed $2,000 over the course of five years.

Fuel conservation and style aside, the Civic has always had a strong focus on safety. In an age where more manufacturers reserve the best features for their upper trims, the 2019 Honda Civic made more features standard than their competitors. The 2019 Civic came standard with such features as adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, and automated emergency braking because peace of mind should never cost extra.

The 2020 Honda Odyssey

When it comes to having a safe and practical vehicle to undertake your daily commute, the minivan is the unsung hero of the road. While the SUV has only skyrocketed in terms of accessibility and popularity, Honda still understands that the minivan is one of the most versatile and family-friendly methods of transportation. In 2020, when the world was getting used to social distancing and working remotely, Honda persevered with their Odyssey, a minivan that exhibits both practicality and style for those who seek it.

2020 saw a design change that greatly benefitted the minivan’s performance in the form of a standard ten-speed automatic transmission. This same feature, found on many pickups and SUVs, greatly improved the overall ride quality, making the Odyssey ideal for the family road trip. Three rows of seating meant that the passengers and their provisions could be packed in and have plenty of room left over. By all accounts, the ride was smooth and still had enough acceleration to not fall too far behind on the trail. An 8-inch infotainment screen and compatibility with both Apple and Android devices brought the minivan into the digital age. A five-star safety rating from the NHTSA gave owners peace of mind no matter where their journeys took them.[d]

The 2019 Honda Accord

It was during the energy crisis of the 1970s when the Honda Accord became the saving grace for millions of consumers who wanted a vehicle with better fuel economy than some of the domestic offerings that weren’t exactly known for their conservative consumption. Year after year, the Honda Accord has been a symbol of practicality and performance, with refined powertrains and outstanding prowess in terms of engineering. 2019 was no exception to this, and the Honda Accord that rolled off the assembly lines that year continued a legacy that millions have come to depend upon.

Practicality and performance were both exhibited in the two powertrain options made available that year. For those who wanted a little bit of kick in their commute, a turbocharged 2.0L inline-four cylinder engine cranked up the horsepower to 252. It provided a smooth and seamless commute courtesy of a ten-speed automatic or six-speed manual transmission. A CVT was still available this year, meaning that whatever your preference was for your commute, there was an Accord that specifically catered to you. Beyond what was underneath the hood, a host of standard safety features made for a safe trip. Adaptive cruise control, automated emergency braking, and lane-keeping assistance could also be found across all levels of trim.

Many generations of drivers have relied on Honda for its innovation, engineering, and sustainability. For many of us, new things are scary. We think it’s not so much that something is new but rather that it seems unknown or mysterious, and we tend to worry about or fear the unknown. The good news, however, is that the more you know about something, the less worrisome it becomes, which is why we’re here to help. Whether you’re interested in a Honda Accord Hybrid for sale or simply want to know more about the responsibilities and concerns that come with owning a hybrid, we’re going to answer some of the most common questions about these vehicles. This way, you won’t have to worry about the unknown anymore and can enjoy the impressive performance and remarkable efficiency a Honda hybrid offers. Let’s go!

Question #1: What Is A Hybrid?

Let’s start with the basics: a hybrid is a car, truck, or SUV that utilizes both a conventional internal combustion engine (ICE) and a battery-powered electric motor. The motor is part of the vehicle’s overall drivetrain and essentially adds more power to the system, taking some of the strain off the standard engine. This means a hybrid can be more efficient since the engine is doing less work or achieves greater performance by adding the power of the motor to an already impressive engine.

Question #2: How Do You Drive A Hybrid?

The good news is that you drive a hybrid just like any other car you’ve enjoyed throughout your lifetime. It’s essentially no different when you’re behind the wheel than any conventional vehicle with a basic ICE under the hood. The engineers at Honda have designed their hybrid powertrains to handle everything for you. You might have different drive modes available that you can choose between for standard driving, boosted efficiency, or greater performance, but this depends on the model you’re in and what’s available. Even if you do have multiple drive modes, choosing one is simple and doesn’t change how you drive.

Question #3: Can A Hybrid Run On Gas?

Yes, hybrid cars require gas, just like any other vehicle with an ICE. In fact, if you run out of gas with a hybrid, then you’ll be in just as much of a tough spot as with any other car, so you’ll want to treat it just like you would a conventional vehicle.

Question #4: What Type Of Gas Do Hybrids Use?

A standard hybrid uses the same gas as any other conventional vehicle, though you’ll get better performance by choosing the right octane for the particular model you’re looking at. The 2024 Honda Accord, for example, runs on regular unleaded, just like most other vehicles these days. But a hybrid model can get an estimated 51 MPG in the city and 44 MPG on the highway, compared to a standard Accord that can get an estimated 29 MPG in the city and 37 MPG on the highway—that’s the difference the motor makes.

Question #5: Does Gas Go Bad In A Hybrid?

In theory, gas can go bad in any vehicle since it has a shelf life of three to six months, according to JD Power. This is true for a hybrid if you have it sitting unused for several months with gas in the tank—but it’s true for a conventional car, too. As long as you don’t do that, then you don’t need to worry about gas in your hybrid losing its combustibility.

Question #6: Do Hybrids Save You Money?

The biggest way a hybrid can save you money is with boosted fuel efficiency, letting you go further between stops for gas. Your savings and benefit from this depends a great deal on how you drive; the biggest improvements to gas mileage (as we saw with question #4 above) usually come from city driving, though highway efficiency is still improved. If you do a lot of driving around town, with plenty of stops and starts, then a hybrid can be very advantageous.

Question #7: Will A Hybrid Last Longer Than A Traditional Gas Car?

Yes, with proper maintenance, it’s quite possible that a hybrid vehicle can last longer than a traditional gas-only vehicle. Since the battery-powered motor takes some of the strain and work from your engine while you drive, it can improve the longevity of your engine. This is entirely dependent on you taking proper care of your vehicle, however, so you still need to follow Honda’s service schedule and drive responsibly.

Question #8: Do Hybrids Need Oil Changes?

Since hybrid vehicles still have gas-powered engines, they require motor oil to keep things moving smoothly and prevent excess heat from building up inside them. The engine oil will degrade and get dirty over time, so you still need to change the oil in your hybrid’s engine. Check your owner’s manual or give us a call to determine how often to change your oil.

Question #9: Are Hybrids Safer Than EVs?

If you’re concerned about news stories reporting EVs bursting into flames due to their battery systems, then this isn’t something you should be worried about. Instances of EVs self-immolating have been very rare and mostly affected specific models with certain flawed battery packs. That being said, the small battery in a hybrid is not likely to light on fire, so that you can drive with confidence and peace of mind.

Question #10: Do Hybrids Have Issues In Cold Weather?

In general, hybrid models handle the cold just like conventional ICE vehicles. When it’s cold out, you should start your vehicle and let it idle a bit so the engine warms up before you start driving, which is true for hybrids or standard cars. All-electric models can have issues with their battery systems and cold weather, but this isn’t a problem for hybrids.

Question #11: When Does A Hybrid Switch From Gas To Battery And Vice Versa?

This depends on a number of factors, including the engineering of a vehicle and how you’re driving. Your vehicle is designed to know when to switch between the two systems; it typically uses the battery-powered motor as much as possible but switches to gas if the battery is drained, when you need more power (like going uphill), or if other factors indicate to your car’s computer that the engine is needed. At low speeds, when engine power is less needed, it’s more efficient for a hybrid to switch back to primarily battery power.

Question #12: Can You Drive A Hybrid Without The Battery?

No, you can’t drive your hybrid without either the large car battery or the battery for the hybrid system. Hybrids are designed and engineered to use both systems, so you need to have both for it to run properly. Someone with a lot of automotive engineering experience might be able to rig a system that functions without it, but that’s an extreme example.

Question #13: What’s The Difference Between A HEV And PHEV?

A hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) refers to any kind of car, truck, or SUV that utilizes a hybrid powertrain. By comparison, a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) is a specific type of HEV that has a battery you can charge using an external source, hence the name. You charge PHEVs by plugging them into a charger, much like an all-electric model, and they offer a limited electric-only range, which is what separates them from other hybrid vehicles.

Question #14: Do You Charge A Hybrid Battery?

The battery for a vehicle’s hybrid system is charged automatically while you drive, often using regenerative energy from the braking system. When you apply the brakes, a lot of energy is lost in the form of heat; regenerative braking utilizes some of this energy and uses it to keep the hybrid battery charged. Your vehicle’s engine can also help keep the hybrid battery charged as you drive, depending on how it was designed. With a standard hybrid, not a PHEV, you never have to actively charge your vehicle, so you don’t have to worry about it.
