Midland Teacher Wins Top Prize
One local teacher is getting a big boost to the start of the school year, thanks to Classic Honda of Midland.
Midland Carver Center teacher, Chaley Romero, is the winner of Classic Honda’s $500 Teacher Giveaway. Romero’s name was randomly picked out of a basket, which included more than 100 other names nominated through Classic Honda’s Facebook page.
On Tuesday afternoon, Classic Honda owner, Joey Gabarda, presented a check to Romero.
“I cried a couple times yesterday when I found out I won,” said Romero.
The mother of two is married to a Midland police officer. She has taught in both Greenwood and Midland Independent School Districts for the past 5 years. The 4th grade teacher says she has no clue as to how she is going to spend the prize money. This exciting prize comes as she gets ready to start the new school year. “My goal is to really push my students to their highest limits,” said Romero. “I want to help them grow not only as students, but good members of society. It’s fun to watch them grow.”
“That’s what I love most about our educators. They are preparing the future for our country,” said Gabarda. “That’s why I love getting involved in this. I’m honored to see everyone who participated and showed their support for teachers through this contest.”
Classic Honda of Midland continues to give back to the community through projects and programs such as High Sky Children’s Ranch, Bustin’ for Badges, and COM Aquatics.
